IT-Skils Explosion Debunked

After having spent almost a good decade in various ICT related jobs i came to wonder why it is some people seem to be good at nearly everything. Or at least proficient, skilled, master.

Being a bit of a generalist (read dabbler) in various IT-related skills i still couln't get my head around how not just a few but more and more people were able to atain such a level while most of the people i've met are skilled but not to say, ahum, overly-skilled. Like me.

Then it hit me, administrative resources. The darn ITIL horror that's upon us is completely driving true skill out of this sector and eventually will replace us all. As each and every process i brought down to a logical, deconstructable process wich can in turn be modelled thus implemented in an information system.

Yes, we ARE doomed and soon we'll be as replaceable as this damned system intends us to be.

Just Great. I'm loosing what is commonly known as common sense over this. I simply loath! this being a secretary thing as being part of my job. Really!
