Ready for 21st Century Global Awareness Technology ?

When i first found out about the current state of Image Analysis it was probably by means of programs automagically stitching together various pictures wich had been manually selected but not in any way prepared to become a single, seamless panoramic picture.

Later there were the occasionnal items in technological sites reporting breakthroughs in various projects related to face-recognition, voice recognition, thermal recognition and so forth.

When i visited the website of (author-feedback an link to be inserted here) while digging into image recognition and the state at wich it was at that time (at least 3 years ago) i could only imagine what these technologies could do.

Now were so very close, probably allready even there, and we wouldn't have a clue if it wasn't for the much hated and beloved Microsoft. I myself must admit to foresee this one project to have the potential to save them a lot of face in the time to come. Ok, i must make my point now right.

Two words: Seadragon, Photosynth.

One Source : Microsoft Live Labs

Many Origins : University Of Washington, Independent Researchers ...

Propect : Global Awareness Technology

What does G.A.T. stand for ? With the the words of Paul Virillio, a trans-horizon scope. And by extension even a trans-structural scope. The following is partly my imagination but mostly those of others wich i've copy-pasted into a probable vision of the very near future.

note: i'll update this post later
